The sets of Melissa and Doug blocks were the original reason this couple went into business. When this couple started looking for wooden toy blocks like they had as children, none could be found. This was in the late 1990′s when the business idea of making and selling wooden blocks was created by Melissa and Doug. Today, the blocks offered by this wooden toy company are many. Melissa and Doug knew that their products had to be of high quality and educational to be able to sell at a reasonable price for their business to make it. There are 24 items containing blocks today. There is the Unit Blocks on Wheels that is a set of 36 blocks in different colors and shapes. These building units all fit snuggly in a little crate that has wheels and a pull string so the little engineers can transport their building materials around with them.  Read more... ...  by : Help making toy using simple machines.? I have to make a toy using 4 simple machines. (Inclined Plane, Lever, Pulley, Gears, Cam, Ratchet, Screw, Crank, Crank & Slider). But there’s a catch. The toy is attached to a string and when you pull the string, 3 different actions happen. For example a person: The head would nod, arms wave, and legs move. Or a car and its hood opens, it bounces and doors open. These are just examples, it could be anything at all. Now this is made out of wood/plastic and I have a whole woodshop room to make it so I have a lot of machines to work with. He recommends that this “toy” be placed on a base. Just a block of wood that I can use to make things simplier. I guess he means if the toy moves, to just put the wheels on the base so that the toy cant tip over.  Read more...
